Coming into this season it looked very bright for the Chicago Blackhawks. They had acquired a top-tier defenceman in Seth Jones, traded for a vezina winning goalie in Marc-Andre Fleury, brought in veteran Jake McCabe, and another year of development for young stars; Alex Debrincat, Dylan Strome and Kirby Dach. Also, possibly what was most exciting for Blackhawks fans was the return of captain Jonathan Toews, who missed the entire 2020-2021 season.
But even with all this new and developed talent, the Hawks just couldn't quite find their stride this season which led to trading away a few players at the deadline, most notably, Marc-Andre Fleury.
The Hawks are current sitting 27th in the league and the recently appointed General Manager Kyle Davidson announced that the team would be entering a rebuild. This has not sat well with players like Toews who still believe that they were capable of being a competitive team.
Here's what he had to say about his GM at today's conference.
