BREAKING: Former NHL Fighter passes away at a very young age
Hockey is one big family, and some sad news has been reported today about our family. Former NHL enforcer Garrett Burnett has passed away at the very young age of 46.
Burnett played one season with the Anaheim Mighty Ducks back in 2003-04, and racked up an impressive 184 Penalty Minutes in only 39 games! He played in multiple leagues; OHL, ECHL, AHL, IHL, NHL, LNAH and a few more and racked up very high PIM's everywhere he went, including one AHL season where he had 506!
After playing in the NHL he joined the Danbury Trashers and of course you've probably seen the documentary made about this team.
He finished his career with the Saint-Jean Chiefs of the Ligue Nord-Américaine de Hockey (LNAH) in Quebec. This league is well known for some hard-nose hockey, lots of fights, lots of penalties, lots of action!
At this time the cause of his death is not known, but we would like to offer our condolences to his friends and family.
We all lost a member of our hockey family today. R.I.P Garrett.
Sad news for @dbtrashers fans, former player/assistant coach Garrett Burnett has passed away. I don't know any other details.
Garrett also spent time in the NHL with the @AnaheimDucks & was feared on-ice. Off the ice, one of the nicest guys you'll ever meet. RIP #55 pic.twitter.com/984uMIY1ds— Phil Giubileo (@philgpbp) April 12, 2022
