The Boston Bruins are not quite as good as they were last year, but they are still 2nd in the league in points despite the fact that the team lost multiple key players in the offseason. Now it seems as though they will be without one of their key defensemen for the next few games.
It was announced today that the Bruins have placed defenseman Charlie McAvoy as well as forward Pavel Zacha on Injured Reserve. In McAvoy's case, this is retroactive to the 8th, meaning he will be out until tomorrow at the earliest. However, given the timing of the move, it seems that he will likely be out for at least a few more days.
The Bruins blueliner was injured when Sabres forward JJ Peterka made a reverse hit on him, inadvertently hitting him higher than intended. However, the team confirmed that it is not a head injury.
