Jonathan Toews' return has been a huge story this off-season, but his comments about his physical state could be of some concern to Winnipeg Jets fans.

After two years away from the NHL, Jonathan Toews announced he was planning a return to hockey, and unsurprisingly, the Manitoba native was quick to ink a deal with his hometown Winnipeg Jets.
On Friday, he made his first comments with his new team, and while there's excitement around his return, his comments may not quite inspire confidence from Jets fans.
When asked about where he's currently at both mentally and physically, Toews reveals that he accepted that his hockey career was over, and while he's back and ready to go now, that may be of some concern.
"In my mind, I had kind of accepted in a way that I might not play again. I think that was a challenging thing to do, but at the same time, a very healthy thing to do."

On top of that, but much less surprising, Toews reveals that his legs are a little slow after two years away, but the hands are still there, meaning that he believes he can contribute significantly in 2025/26.
"I still have the hands, the feet will catch up. Things have slowly gotten better since. I'm really happy about where I'm at."
Despite these comments, Toews has been returning to practice for some time now, and with training camp approaching and a full off-season ahead of him, if he can stay healthy, this is a 37-year old that has the ability to produce at his age, and with an important role in Winnipeg this year, he's got plenty of pressure on his shoulders.
