500-Game NHL Veteran Shockingly and Unexpectedly Retires at 28-Years-Old

Christian Fischer has played in 523 NHL games between Arizona, Columbus and Detroit, but now the 28-year old is shockingly retiring from the league.
Drafted in the second round of the 2015 NHL Draft, Christian Fischer had plenty of potential to be a star in the National Hockey League, but unfortunately, the beginning of his career set the stage for his ultimate role in the league.
The 28-year old scored a career high of 33 points in his second season with Arizona back in 2017/18, but unfortunately struggled to catch on again with the team, ultimately spending the last two years with Detroit and Columbus.
In 523 games, the talented forward would put up 62 goals and 137 points, but throughout his time in the NHL, he never managed to become more than a depth option for the three teams he played with.
Now, he's set to retire from the league, and while most times that happens there's a huge reason behind it, Fischer revealed to The Athletic that it was simply time to move on to the next chapter in his life.
"Over the last couple years, I think I just look at my life and what makes me happy, and being around family and kind of my life in Scottsdale - some of my friends here are really close with me, and I have a pretty small group out here, and honestly it's just more so a decision of moving on into another chapter of my life.
I wish there was a big reasoning why, but in the end, I'm very thankful for the career I had, but just personally I think I know it's time for a new chapter in my life."
He never quite lived up to the billing, but Fischer was a great teammate throughout his career and a solid producer on the ice when given the chance, but now he's set for the next chapter in his life, and whether that's hockey related or not, we'll find out when the time comes.
