Bowen Byram's Shocking Contract Demands Release Publicly Amid Trade Drama

The Buffalo Sabres have been in the thick of the action already this summer, and now, it remains just a matter of when, not if they trade talented young defenseman Bowen Byram.

Coming into the summer, he was a clear offer sheet target for many teams around the NHL, and while that still remains true, there's also a chance that he gets traded in the coming weeks as well.

However, a recent revelation could deter any teams looking to acquire the 24-year old, former first-round pick, as David Pagnotta has revealed that the talented blue liner is seeking a long-term deal that pays him at least $9 million per season.

Given his lack of production and ability to cash in on his potential at the NHL level, it's clear that Byram thinks way too highly of himself, making it no surprise that a trade has not yet gone through.

Despite this speculation, both the Calgary Flames and St. Louis Blues among others remain in strong pursuit of the former No. 4 overall pick, with many believing a deal could come soon even though he has tallied over 25 points just once in his career.

Beyond that, there has always been questions of his character on and off the ice, and with a lack of production and all these question marks on top of the cost it would take to acquire him, it's unclear when we'll see the young talent involved in a deal.
