Veteran Winnipeg Jets forward Jonathan Toews, who is playing in his first year in a Jets sweater in his NHL return, has seemingly confirmed his trade fate as the Deadline approaches in a new interview.

Former Chicago Blackhawks captain Jonathan Toews, who hadn't played in the NHL since April 2023, has made a successful comeback effort in the NHL by playing with his hometown Winnipeg Jets.
But unfortunately for Toews and the Jets, not much has gone right for them only a year after winning the President's Trophy as the NHL's best team and advancing to Game 6 of the Western Conference Semifinals.
Multiple Jets players are involved in trade rumours as the Trade Deadline inches closer, and because he's on an expiring contract, Toews is one of them.
But per Toews himself, he doesn't have any interest in going somewhere else, even though it might afford him a chance to win another Stanley Cup.
I wouldn't consider going anywhere. I want to keep playing for this team. I don't even know that we're not a playoff team. Even throughout our 11-game winless streak, there were so many nights where we were inches away from scoring a tying goal or a winning goal or we give one up late, losing in overtime. There were so many situations where all of the little things that could go wrong did We're going to find a way to make them go right. - Jonathan Toews

So far in his first year in a Jets sweater, Toews has 19 points (7G, 12A) in 56 games.

Jonathan Toews Returned To The NHL

Toews experienced numerous complications because of a bout with Covid-19, and didn't play in either 2023-24 and 2024-25.
He was told by the Blackhawks late in the 2022-23 season that he would not be re-signed, and it looked like retirement could be imminent.
But Toews successfully managed to come back into the NHL after a two year absence and did so by playing for his hometown team.
