Jets' Logan Stanley facing suspension for sucker punching Brady Tkachuk
Winnipeg Jets defenseman Logan Stanley will have a hearing with the National Hockey League Department of Player Safety for his sucker punch of Ottawa Senators captain Brady Tkachuk in last night's game.
There was a notable incident during last night's game between the Winnipeg Jets and the Ottawa Senators in the nation's capital in which Jets defenseman Logan Stanley tried to goad Senators captain Brady Tkachuk into a fight by the Senators bench.
When Tkachuk didn't engage with Stanley the way he wanted, Stanley delivered a sucker punch to Tkachuk's face.
Despite his actions, Stanley was only hit with minor penalties for roughing and for removing Tkachuk's helmet, and Tkachuk got a 10 minute misconduct.
Now, Stanley could be facing steeper punishment with the NHL, as he's been officially called to have a hearing with the Department of Player Safety. They made the following announcement on their official X account:
Winnipeg's Logan Stanley will have a hearing today for roughing Ottawa's Brady Tkachuk. - NHL Player Safety
So far this year, Stanley has 13 points (7G, 6A) in 40 games for the struggling Jets.
Logan Stanley Has Done This Kind Of Thing Before Earlier In His NHL Career
It's not the first time that Stanley has done something controversial like this, as he delivered a sucker punch to Montreal's Kirby Dach some years ago during a preseason game.
Stanley was taken with the 18th overall pick by the Jets in the 2016 NHL Entry Draft, and he's played his entire NHL career in a Jets sweater.
He also spends quite a bit of time in the penalty box, as he had 78 PIM last year and has already passed that mark this year with 82 PIM.
