Team Canada have announced their opening roster for the 2026 Olympic Games, but shockingly, Washington Capitals star Logan Thompson was no where to be seen.
Back at the Four Nations Face Off, Team Canada was under fire for several roster choices, and while they ended up winning gold in a dramatic final against the United States, those questions still remained over roster decisions.
That comes despite the Calgary native posting a highly impressive 2.49 GAA and a .910 save percentage, better numbers than any of the other three in the regular season, and clearly, the fans know it was a ridiculous snub as well.
At the Four Nations, Canada rode Jordan Binnington the whole way, and despite the criticism of his play, he came up big when his country needed him the most, making some crucial stops in overtime, but as of right now, there's absolutely no reason for Canada to have Sam Montembeault on their roster ahead of Thompson.
As some have suggested, it may have something to do with Bruce Cassidy and his time in Vegas with Thompson and potential bad blood, but as of right now, it just looks like a ridiculous decision, and one that likely isn't going to change ahead of the Olympic Games.
