The Washington Capitals announced today that assistant coach Mitch Love is officially on leave pending the results of an investigation by the NHL, but no further details were released.

The Washington Capitals have announced that assistant coach Mitch Love is being placed on leave pending the results of an investigation into the National Hockey League.
No reason behind Love's being placed on leave or the nature of the investigation by the NHL was given.
Washington Capitals assistant coach Mitch Love has been placed on team-imposed leave pending results of an investigation by the National Hockey League. We will refrain from further comment until the NHL's investigation is complete.

This comes days after the Buffalo Sabres announced that director of player development Adam Mair had been placed on leave following an arrest.
This is a developing story, and it would be inappropriate to try to speculate as to what exactly led to this decision by the Capitals.

Is this going to be Alex Ovechkin's last year in the NHL?

Last year, Alex Ovechkin broke the record set by Wayne Gretzky in 1999 by passing him with his 895th career NHL goal.
But he has only a year left on his contract, and isn't signed beyond 2025-26, which will be his 21st year in the NHL.
He called comments from his spouse that appeared to imply that the family planned on returning to Russia following this NHL season "pure nonsense".
(My wife said in an interview) maybe we will come and play in Russia, but anything can happen. This is pure nonsense that (the mieda) flipped things and put Nastya in that position.

-Alex Ovechkin
