After being suspended for the entire year by the NHL and fired by the Washington Capitals, Mitch Love has broken his silence by releasing a statement.

After an investigation by the National Hockey League, the Washington Capitals announced that assistant coach Mitch Love has been relieved of his duties.
This followed a nearly 6 week team-imposed leave of absence while the investigation was ongoing. Even though it's not exactly clear the circumstances surrounding the investigation, the Capitals released a statement pointing to "past allegations".
Mitch Love has been relieved of his duties as an assistant coach, effective immediately. This decision follows the findings of an NHL-led investigation into past allegations. The organization is committed to maintaining the highest standards of conduct and accountability.

Not long after Love was terminated by the Capitals, he released a statement of his own saying that he's disappointed by the decision and that he completely denies the allegations against him.
While I am disappointed by and disagree with the NHL's decision, I respect the process and accept both the league's findings and the Capitals' decision. I will continue to openly cooperate throughout this process. That said, I fully deny the allegations against me and look forward to returning to the sport I love as soon as possible. - Mitch Love

Mitch Love Was Thought Of As A Potential Head Coach

Before the suspension, Love was reportedly a contender for the Pittsburgh Penguins head coaching position that would eventually go to former New York Rangers assistant Dan Muse.
He was also reportedly in contention for the head coaching position with the Boston Bruins and Seattle Kraken.
He's been an assistant with the Capitals on head coach Spencer Carbery's staff for the last two years.
