Last month, Washington Capitals defenseman Alexander Alexeyev was arrested and has now received his verdict after making an appearance in court.

Today, it was announced that Alexeyev would need to pay a $91 fine and has the opportunity to have his charges dismissed with good behavior.
As long as Alexeyev maintains good behavior till October 21st of this year, then his charges may be dropped. This is a great opportunity for the Russian defenseman as it could help him ensure his record gets cleared early on in the 2025-26 NHL season.
Alexeyev, 25 years old, was drafted by the Capitals in the first round of the 2018 NHL draft, 31st overall, and has since gotten into 80 career NHL games, posting eight points along the way. Additionally, he has played in 14 playoff games, including all 10 of the Capitals' playoff games this past postseason. He struggled with injuries tremendously this past year, getting into only 11 regular-season games between the NHL and AHL.
While he is still young, the Capitals believe there is another level he can get to in the future and intend on re-signing him this offseason, as he is a pending restricted free agent. He will look to become a mainstay on the Capitals' blueline next season or run the risk of needing a new NHL home or head back overseas to continue his hockey career.
