Golden Knights Top Goal Scorer Injured: Will Miss Game 6
The Vegas Golden Knights have a chance to put the Minnesota Wild away in Game 6, but now they'll be missing one of their top players.
While many expected the Vegas Golden Knights to steamroll the Minnesota Wild in their first-round matchup, it has been highly competitive, but now, they'll look to wrap this series up in Game Six in Minnesota.
Unfortunately, Head Coach Bruce Cassidy has now revealed some bad news, announcing that
Pavel Dorofeyev will officially miss the game, meaning the Golden Knights will be without some genuine offensive firepower.
On top of that, Cassidy notes that he'll be day-to-day moving forward, meaning that if Minnesota win this one at home, Dorofeyev could be in danger of missing a winner-take-all Game 7.
While he may not be one of the biggest names in the NHL, the 24-year old took a major leap in 2024/25, posting a career high of 35 goals and 52 points, emerging as a genuine star of the future for a team that desperately needs young names to contribute.
In fact, his 35 goals this season led the Golden Knights, as he formed a brilliant combination with the likes of
Jack Eichel and
Mark Stone, and without him, the door opens a little more for Minnesota to cause a major upset and push this first-round series to seven games.
If the Golden Knights can get through Game 6 without Dorofeyev, that will give him a few days to get healthy before their next series against either the Edmonton Oilers or Los Angeles Kings, and while they're still a great team without him, their potential is limited without the rising star in the lineup.
