The Vegas Golden Knights have announced that captain Mark Stone has been hurt once again and won't be able to play on a week to week basis, per coach Bruce Cassidy.

Stop us if you've heard this one before - the Vegas Golden Knights are going to be without captain Mark Stone after he was hurt.
This time, he was hurt on Saturday night against the Calgary Flames as part of a blowout win after falling near the blue line; he went back to the bench and to the locker room and didn't come back.
Head coach Bruce Cassidy confirmed that Stone is going to be considered week to week, and called it an unfortunate loss for the team.
It's an unfortunate loss. It'll be a loss in every area. He touches the penalty kill, and obviously down low on the power play. - Bruce Cassidy

Stone already has 13 points (2G, 11A) in 6 games played this year so far, which is 2nd overall in the NHL.

Mark Stone and the Golden Knights Have Been a Contentious Topic in the NHL

There have been multiple occasions where Stone has been hurt and placed on Long Term Injured Reserve, and during that time, the Golden Knights acquired additional talent that put them far over the salary by the time Stone returned, coincidentally in time for the start of the playoffs.
The NHL has adjusted their rules to prevent teams from playing fast and loose with the salary cap as Vegas has done, but they're far from the only team to do so. The Tampa Bay Lightning did so with Nikita Kucherov, as did their divisional foe Florida Panthers with multiple players in 2024 before their Stanley Cup run.
