Brock Boeser stepped away from the Canucks recently, and now the heartbreaking reason behind his decision has officially been revealed.

After a humiliating 2024/25 campaign, the Vancouver Canucks came into this season rejuvenated as they looked to turn things around and to get back into Stanley Cup Playoffs contention.
Through eight games, the team currently sit at 4-4-0, a much better start than last season, but recently, they had to deal with the absence of star winger Brock Boeser, who missed two games last week.

Brock Boeser Misses Game To Care For Dying Pet

Now, it's officially been revealed why Boeser was absent for those two games, as he took time away to care for his dying dog, wanting to be there with him in his final days, with tributes from Canucks fans pouring in since the news broke.
Some pushed back on the idea of missing a game or two for this reason, but there is so much to life beyond hockey for these players, and given how much pets can mean to people, for Boeser, this may have been like family passing.
For the most part however, the team and fans have been very respectful and loving towards Boeser in what may be a very tough time, helping Boeser to get back to the ice ahead of the Canucks post-season push in 2025/26.
Ultimately, hockey is a job for these players, and given that they dedicate their entire lives to what happens on the ice, taking a break for a situation like this is very understandable, but now, Boeser is back as the team look to find their momentum this season.
