Quinn Hughes faces criticism from Sportsnet: 'criticizing him used to be a no-fly zone'
Quinn Hughes' future in Vancouver has been the source of much speculation, and now, the Canucks captain is surprisingly taking plenty of criticism.
The Vancouver Canucks were hoping for a bounce back season in 2025/26, and while there's been periods of success for them, as of right now, this doesn't appear to be a Stanley Cup Playoffs team this year.
That has led to much speculation around the future of some of their key players, including captain Quinn Hughes, with President Jim Rutherford hinting that his days in Vancouver may be limited.
Quinn Hughes taking major criticism from Sportsnet
Given how incredible Hughes has been on the ice, he has been almost immune to criticism from the media, even in Canada, but now, according to Halford and Brough in the Morning, that has changed in a big way.
Criticizing Quinn Hughes used to be a no-fly zone. Not anymore.
Hughes' play on the ice this season has still been fantastic, as he has posted 2 goals and 22 points in 21 games played, but amidst all of the speculation, his body language has taken a major hit, and it's clearly effecting his public perception in Vancouver.
With the team struggling at 10-13-3 through their first 26 games, the Stanley Cup Playoffs are getting further and further away, and as a result, it's likely that Hughes himself may finally want out of Vancouver.
As of right now, all of this appears to be pointing towards the Canucks superstar captain and Norris Trophy contender departing Vancouver via trade before he hits free agency, and while neither he nor the front office have confirmed a trade is coming, given the way everything is playing out, that looks to be the only option for his future.
