The St. Louis Blues gave Milan Lucic an opportunity this off-season, and now, it's been revealed by the veteran why he chose the Blues for his PTO.

This off-season, we saw plenty of player movement around the National Hockey League, but one thing no one quite expected to see was the return of Milan Lucic to the professional hockey world.
After losing his role in the NHL due to off the ice struggles, Lucic was handed a PTO by the St. Louis Blues this off-season, but recently, he was released of that contract, with many speculating that this could lead him into retirement.

Lucic reveals what led to him signing with the St. Louis Blues

Since that release, Lucic has appeared on many podcasts, the latest being The Sheet with Jeff Marek, and in that interview, he revealed the three people that were responsible for convincing him to return and sign with the Blues on a professional tryout.
Those three guys (Jim Montgomery, Doug Armstrong, Claude Julien) were definitely pushing for me to come to the Blues on a PTO.
Unsurprisingly, Lucic wasn't able to earn a deal with the team, as he was not a good NHLer during his time with the Boston Bruins back in 2023/24, and two years later, anyone that watches hockey could have told you he simply can't keep up in the year 2025.
Now, after 1,177 games in the NHL between Boston, Los Angeles, Edmonton, Calgary and Boston once again, Lucic's NHL career appears to be coming to an end, and barring some miracle happening where another team hands him a lifeline, it's safe to say that he is headed into retirement.
