Vancouver Canucks forward Conor Garland bid goodbye to now-ex teammate Quinn Hughes, who was traded on Friday in a stunning move to the Minnesota Wild.

Hockey fans were stunned on Friday night when the Vancouver Canucks traded captain Quinn Hughes to the Minnesota Wild for Zeev Buium, center Marco Rossi, winger Liam Ohgren and a first round pick in the 2026 NHL Entry Draft.
The Canucks are now moving on without Hughes, who was the best defenseman in team history.
It was a difficult move for his now ex-teammate Conor Garland, who said that Hughes was about as close to a brother as he had.
I don't have any brothers, but we were pretty close. So day-to-day will be a little off for a little bit. The guys are giving me a hard time today, like, you know, I will be walking around the mall by myself. Like last night... I was rating all the right-handed defencemen in the league in my room by myself. That's what we usually do together. Just argue over, you know, who would you take? He's the greatest guy. Goes to a great team. But, you know, we've got to move on as a group.

Hughes was not able to play in yesterday's 3-2 win for the Wild over the Ottawa Senators, but it won't be long before he makes his official debut in a Minnesota sweater.

Quinn Hughes Has Bid Goodbye To The Canucks After The Trade

Hughes posted a heartfelt goodbye on Instagram to the Canucks and to the fans who supported him over the years.
I am very proud to have played for the Vancouver Canucks for 7 years, I loved the passion in the city & it brought me some of the most exciting times of my life, living out my dream. What makes playing in Vancouver so special is the people, the city, and what the team means to them! I will always be proud to have represented the Canucks! - Quinn Hughes

Hughes finishes his time with the Canucks with 432 points (61G, 371A) in 459 career games.
