Logan Cooley is in the midst of a breakout campaign for Utah, and now, the team have signed their superstar centre to a massive extension.
Logan Cooley was a top pick of the then Arizona Coyotes, and now, the 21-year old is beginning to show exactly why he was worthy of being the No. 3 pick in the 2022 NHL Draft.
Last year, Cooley posted career highs of 25 goals and 65 points across 75 games as he became Utah's clear 1C moving forward, and this season, he's off to an even better start, posting 8 goals and 12 points across his first 11 games.
Utah Rewards Logan Cooley With 'Mammoth' Extension
Earlier this season, it was revealed that Cooley was in
no rush to sign an extension, but now, after a red-hot start to the 2025/26 campaign, the Mammoth have rewarded the talented young centre with a massive deal, as Frank Seravalli has revealed the team have signed him to an eight-year deal.
That extension carries an annual average value of $10 million, and while he may not quite be at that level yet, he's quickly getting there, and at 21-years of age, that deal may end up looking like a steal in the coming years.
Around Cooley, the Mammoth have an incredible young core with the likes of JJ Peterka,
Dylan Guenther and captain
Clayton Keller, and with the team off to an 8-3-0 start to the year, this may finally be the season they make a Stanley Cup Playoffs push.
On paper, this may seem like an overpay to some, but at 21, Cooley has already established himself as one of the most exciting players in hockey, and with the young core around him locked in to long-term deals, the future remains incredibly bright for the Mammoth.
