The Utah Hockey Club have been a positive addition for the NHL thus far, and now, Gary Bettman is set to potentially reward them with an outdoor game in the not too distant future.
This, along with their rising young core led by
Clayton Keller,
Logan Cooley and
Dylan Guenther are beginning to make them a destination for fans and potential free agents of the future, and now Gary Bettman has teased a major event coming their way.
Despite talks of expansion, Bettman is still focused on the NHL's 32nd team and making hockey in Salt Lake City a success, and in his latest interview, he revealed that in the near future, the team will be getting an outdoor game.
«An outdoor game is in Utah's future.
Utah is going to get an outdoor game and it's going to be great because I know the reaction from the community is going to be as good as we've ever seen.»
Bettman also notes they are looking at Rice Eccles Stadium, home of the Big 12's Utah Utes as a destination for a potential outdoor game, and with the perfect climate in Salt Lake City, this would bring an incredible atmosphere.
Thus far there's been no discussion about potential opponents or times, but given how exciting the future of hockey in Utah is, this would be another way for Bettman and the NHL to ensure that Salt Lake City will be a success.
