Toronto Newspaper Sparks Panic With Headline on the Leafs/Senators Series
A local Toronto newspaper is sparking panic amongst Maple Leafs fans with their headline following the latest loss to the Senators in the Battle of Ontario series.
The Toronto Maple Leafs are suddenly being confronted with their demons of Stanley Cup Playoffs past,
lost 4-0 in last night's Game 5 against the divisional foe Ottawa Senators.
The Senators have now cut into what was originally a 3-0 series lead for the Maple Leafs, which now stands at 3-2.
The Maple Leafs have a well-documented history in the last several years of being unable to close out potential playoff clinching contests, having gone 1-12 in their last 13 games, including last night's outing against Ottawa.
Not only that, but their power play has failed in their last 30 chances in those potential closeout games.
Adding to the feelings of worry and dread was the front page of today's edition of The Toronto Sun:
Speaking of limiting Toronto's power play, Senators head coach Travis Green explained that his club's special teams
have been a major factor in the postseason thus far.
It has been a big part of the series. They have an extremely skilled team and a really good power play. They were on fire at the beginning. [Nolan Baumgartner] has done a great job with our penalty kill.
As far as the specifics, I don't want to get into that, but he and the penalty killers have done a good job of getting it done in the last few games. It is a big part of the playoffs. Again, they have a lot of good players.
If the Maple Leafs want to avoid the daunting task of having to battle the Senators in Game 7, they'll need to come out on top in tomorrow night's Game 6 in Ottawa.
