Utah Hockey Club's New Team Name Officially Leaked by Careless Social Media Manager

In year one, the NHL's 32nd franchise went simply by the Utah Hockey Club, and while that was an option for their permanent name, the overwhelming belief is that a change is coming for the Salt Lake City based franchise.

Towards the end of the season, the organization held a vote with the fans to choose between these three names: Utah Hockey Club, Utah Mammoth and the Utah Outlaws.

Their best choice was shut down by trademarks as they looked to become the Utah Yeti, and while it's up in the air what the popular fan vote in the arena was, we may have now gotten confirmation of the teams new name.

On Wednesday, the official YouTube page of the team randomly changed their name to 'Utah Mammoth', before being officially taken down, and while this can't be 100% certain to be the next team name, as of right now, it appears to be what they are going with.

While views on the new team name were split, Utah Mammoth was one that certainly gained some traction, and with the new name expected to be announced soon, at this point, we can assume that Mammoth is the moniker they will assume moving forward.

Some may like it, others may not, but we can't truly get a grasp on it until jersey's, apparel and the new logo have been released, but after a year as the Utah Hockey Club, it's safe to say that this will be a major upgrade and one of the most unique names/looks that the NHL have to offer.
