The Carolina Hurricanes have signed former Hart Trophy winner Taylor Hall to a multi-year extension that will keep him with the team until 2028.

Taylor Hall, who would have been a free agent come July, has signed a three-year extension with the Canes worth $3.17 million per year.
"Taylor has proven to be an outstanding fit for our team, and we are thrilled that he is excited to make Raleigh his home for another three seasons," said Eric Tulsky, GM of the Carolina Hurricanes. "He's been a solid veteran presence in the locker room and a difference maker on the ice."
Hall is clearly not the same player who won the Hart Trophy with the team he helped eliminate from the playoffs last night. However, the new deal cuts his current salary almost in half, making it much more reasonable for the Canes.
Hall split th 2024-25 regular season between the Chicago Blackhawks and Carolina Hurricanes, scoring 18 goals and 24 assists over the course of 77 games. He has another 2 goals and 1 assist in the 2025 Stanley Cup Playoffs.
Carolina's front office has been busy this week, also signing Russian goaltender Amir Miftakhov after an injury to Frederik Andersen. Miftakhov has been playing with Ak Bars of the KHL for the past several seasons.
