Top Maple Leafs insider drops stunning update on William Nylander's future

Toronto Maple Leafs analyst Nick Kypreos recently reported that Toronto management was open to having discussions about the future of William Nylander with the team.
The Toronto Maple Leafs made a pair of moves at last week's deadline, sending Bobby McMann to the Seattle Kraken and Scott Laughton, who they acquired last year from the Philadelphia Flyers, to the Los Angeles Kings.
There were even rumoured discussions surrounding the future of captain Auston Matthews with the team, though he remains with the team for now.
But now, NHL analyst Nick Kypreos is reporting that the Maple Leafs were "open" to having trade discussions surrounding William Nylander, who was re-signed to a lengthy contract in 2023.
I did hear that they were open to have conversations about (William Nylander), and they should. It shouldn't come as a shock to anybody. - Nick Kypreos
Nylander, who has missed several games this year because of injuries, has 60 points (22G, 38A) in 48 games played.
The Maple Leafs Were Open To Trading Matthew Knies
Not only were the Leafs reportedly open to having discussions of Nylander, but there were rampant rumours swirling around the future of Matthew Knies.

Knies admitted that he's heard the rumours but that he didn't want to look into them very much.
