Morgan Rielly and Mark Messier captain rival rosters at CAA Centre tonight as Hockey Night in Brampton raises funds for the city's second hospital.

Brampton is set for its biggest hockey night outside the regular season, and this one has nothing to do with wins or losses.
The fifth annual Hockey Night in Brampton drops the puck Wednesday evening at CAA Centre, bringing together current NHL players and hockey legends for one cause, raising money to help build the city's second hospital.
Toronto Maple Leafs defenseman Morgan Rielly captains one side, while Hall of Famer Mark Messier, the six time Stanley Cup champion and former captain of the Oilers and Rangers, leads the opposing roster.
Doug Gilmour, Wendel Clark and Gary Roberts round out the coaching staff, a trio that has become synonymous with this event since its 2019 launch under Mayor Patrick Brown.

Star power fills both rosters

The lineup stretches well beyond the captains.
San Jose Sharks prospect Michael Misa, Ducks defenseman Pavel Mintyukov and Senators forward Stephen Halliday join veterans like Erik Gudbranson, Dylan Strome, Owen Power and PWHL forward Emily Clark.
Paul Coffey, Ryan Getzlaf, Joe Kocur, Kris Versteeg, Mike Modano and Kirk Muller add serious Hall of Fame pedigree, while Brampton natives Phil Oreskovic and Ethan Czata get to suit up in their hometown.
Brampton Steelheads goaltenders Neilan Johnson and Oskari Ahmajarvi will man the nets.
Doors open at 6 p.m. with puck drop at 7 p.m., and every dollar raised supports the William Osler Health System Foundation as it works to transform Peel Memorial into Brampton's second hospital.

Millions already raised for Peel Memorial

The event has become Canada's largest charity hockey game for good reason.
Last year's edition raised $6.7 million and helped secure a historic $50 million pledge from the Cortellucci family, pushing the two year total near $21 million.
The 2024 game alone brought in a $14 million donation.
Altogether, Hockey Night in Brampton has generated more than $56 million toward the hospital project since it began, and organizers expect tonight's crowd to push that number even higher.
