Scott Laughton's emotional goodbye to the Maple Leafs goes viral

Now ex-Maple Leafs forward Scott Laughton's goodbye message to the organization he played for nearly exactly a full calendar year has gone viral following his trade to the Los Angeles Kings on Friday.
Scott Laughton spent nearly one full calendar year as a member of the Toronto Maple Leafs, who acquired him last year at the trade deadline from the Philadelphia Flyers.
Now, he's been traded once again, this time to the Los Angeles Kings, who had earlier traded away Warren Foegele and Corey Perry.
Laughton, who is originally from Ontario and grew up wanting to play for the Leafs, posted a goodbye message to the organization that included a photo of his family watching him warm up on the glass which has now gone viral.
Lots of Leafs fans were sorry to see him leave, with many asking him to consider re-signing in Toronto during the summer.
So far in what was his first full year with the Maple Leafs, Laughton had 12 points (8G, 4A).
The Maple Leafs Acquired Scott Laughton From The Flyers Last Year
Laughton, who started his career with the Philadelphia Flyers, was acquired by the Maple Leafs last March.
But the Leafs paid up big time to bring Laughton in, sending prospect Nikita Grebenkin and a conditional first round pick in the 2027 NHL Entry Draft.
Laughton and the Maple Leafs were once again knocked out of the postseason early against the divisional foe Florida Panthers.
In 724 career NHL games with the Flyers and Maple Leafs, Laughton has 281 points (116G, 165A).
