Morgan Rielly's Trade Fate Confirmed by Top NHL Insider Pierre LeBrun
The future in Toronto is very murky at this point, but it appears as though star defenseman Morgan Rielly has no intention of jumping ship.
That's left many wondering if other key pieces of this Maple Leafs lineup may want out, with question marks over many veterans, including Morgan Rielly, with potential trade chatter picking up in recent times.
Now however, TSN's Pierre LeBrun has lifted the lid on a potential deal, revealing that he has no intentions of ever waiving his no-trade clause, as the veteran Maple Leaf absolutely loves it where he is.
That comes as no surprise given that he has been on the NHL roster for over a decade now, and with the role he's given in Toronto, it makes sense that the 31-year old would want to keep being a leader for this group.
In 2024/25, Reilly played in all 82 games, tallying 7 goals and 41 points in that time, and while many Maple Leafs fans have expressed frustration and the potential desire to move Rielly, the team need more high-skill players on their blue line, not less.
Ultimately, it's completely unclear if the Maple Leafs would ever even consider asking Rielly to waive that no-trade clause, but with another four years left on his deal at $7.5 million per season, it's safe to say that Stanley Cup success or post-season failure, the B.C. native will be sticking around in Toronto for a long time to come.
