Maple Leafs GM Brad Treliving met with the media today, where he revealed that he will be getting in touch with Mitch Marner's agent on the next steps.

Earlier in the week, there were rumors that Mitch Marner might help the Toronto Maple Leafs for the last time before maybe leaving his hometown team, by agreeing to a sign-and-trade.
That was echoed again Wednesday morning by Daily Faceoff's Frank Seravalli on 'The Fan Morning Show'.
However, Leafs fans hoping for a respectful exit could be in for disappointment. TSN's Darren Dreger, appearing on OverDrive on TSN 1050 later in the day, said Marner has not been particularly interested in such an arrangement.

Marner is not interested in a sign-and-trade

While it could be good for him and the team, Dreger added that Marner is currently not interested in a sign-and-trade, which could further destroy his reputation in Toronto.
This reluctance is not new. Before the NHL trade deadline, Marner reportedly turned down a trade to the Carolina Hurricanes and fended off numerous trade propositions from the Leafs, including one that promised Colorado Avalanche superstar Mikko Rantanen as a possible replacement.
Thursday morning, Maple Leafs GM Brad Treliving made an appearance in front of the media and addressed the Marner issue.
He did confirm that the organization is currently considering their options and that he would be contacting Marner's agent in the near future.
"We're in that process right now," he said of figuring out what's next with Marner.

"We'll have to see how this all works. And he's got a say in the process."

Treliving wouldn't give details but did confirm that talks are still happening and that the team is considering what's next for the 28-year-old winger Marner.
With Marner finishing the final season of his contract and having a full no-trade clause, any possible trade would require his approval.
Whether or not that changes in the coming weeks is uncertain, but for now, everyone waits with bated breath for negotiations between the management of the Leafs and Marner's representatives.
