Panthers coach Paul Maurice and Hurricanes coach Rod Brind'Amour shared a moment together on the ice after the Panthers advanced to the Cup Final on Wednesday night.

The Panthers are led by coach Paul Maurice, who has now guided them to a 3rd straight appearance in the championship round and has once again gotten the better of his former player Rod Brind'Amour, who coaches the Hurricanes.
Following the game, the pair of coaches shared a moment on the ice in which they shook hands and spoke for several moments.
Maurice, who has traditionally not taken part in the handshake line following a postseason series, later said that he believes believes that it should be reserved only for the players.
«I don't believe that the coaches should shake players' hands at the end. There's this long list of people in suits and track suits. We had like 400 people on the ice. They're all really important to our group. But not one of them was in the game.

He continued:
«There's something for me visually, with the camera on just the men who played, blocked shots, fought for each other, it's the end of one's season, it's excitement for the other.

The last thing that a player on the Carolina Hurricanes deserves is 50 more guys in suits, they have no idea who they are and that's not a negative. There's something really kind of beautiful about just the camera on those men who played shaking hands. And we should respect that.

Maurice coached Brind'Amour during their years together with the Hurricanes; they lost in the 2002 Stanley Cup Final to the Detroit Red Wings.
Maurice later departed for the Toronto Maple Leafs, but returned to the club as coach in 2008 and stayed on the job until he was terminated 25 games into 2011-12.
