Maple Leafs Star Players Reveal Their True Thoughts On Home Crowd Boos
The performance of the Leafs players has been lacking several times over the last week or so, and as a result, the Maple Leafs have been booed off the ice.
The match that took place on Tuesday meant the Leafs players had to endure being booed off for the second time in a span of two games at Scotiabank Arena.
After a Wednesday practice session, the players were interrogated about the experience, and the forward of the team, Mitch Marner, stated that he was able to hear the boos aimed towards the players but he would rather prefer fixing his mistakes than dwell over them.
«Just try to ignore it,» Marner said when asked about the boos. «We're just trying to do our job out there and go out and put together a full 60. And, you know, we got a good practice today, a good video session. We've got to get to work tomorrow.»
On the other hand, William Nylander seemed rather apathetic.
«It doesn't really matter if they boo. I mean, we know we're a good team, so, yeah.»
- William Nylander
Defenseman Oliver Ekman-Larsson was more sympathetic to the agitated fans and expressed his thoughts to TSN's Mark Masters.
«It's frustrating losing so I think we feel the same way."
- Oliver Ekman-Larsson
The head coach of the team, Craig Berube, attempted to tone down the situation by stating that each rink across the league has several annoyed fans.
«It's everywhere. They do it in every rink, don't they? I mean, it's part of the game,» Berube said post-game on Tuesday, referencing the boos. «They pay good money, and they come to see hockey, and they want to see us win. So, that's, you know, that's the way it goes.»
The possibility of further discontent from fans does not seem to shift, as such, the New Jersey Devils are a team the Leafs would rather not have a loss to and would instead prefer to win in order to avoid a losing streak.
Other than the issues mentioned, the performance of the team has been commendable which has enabled the team to secure 56 points and permitted them to be at the forefront of the Atlantic division.
The fans of the Leafs are expected to witness the return of their favorite team to form or witness further disappointment and discontentment tonight.
