Connor McDavid may be the best player in the NHL, but from time to time he's been known to get dirty, and now he may be faced with the consequences of a suspension or fine.

The Edmonton Oilers have been rolling this season, and while it's Leon Draisaitl who deserves the most praise, his superstar teammate Connor McDavid is having yet another incredible campaign.

On Wednesday, the team picked up a huge victory over the Minnesota Wild, with two goals and 3 points from McDavid leading them to the 5-3 win, but it wasn't without controversy for No. 97.

During the matchup, despite not being seen by the officials, McDavid delivered a subtle elbow right to the face of Wild veteran Marcus Johansson, who went down in a heap on the ice immediately, with some fans calling it out as a flop.

Shortly after the game, the team announced that Johansson has an upper-body injury, and while there will likely be an update at some point on Thursday, this could lead to him potentially missing a game or two.

It's the slightest of elbows from McDavid, but it simply can't happen given how the NHL is trying to crack down on shots to the head of opposing players, although a fine or suspension is not guaranteed.

While McDavid doesn't have a long history of run-ins with the NHL's Department of Player Safety, the blatant elbow to the head will no doubt get their attention, with many believing that a fine for the superstar forward could be on the way.

Ultimately though, it wasn't the worst elbow we've ever seen, and a suspension certainly won't come into consideration, but if the league doesn't stamp out this type of cheap hit with a big fine, it will be a very bad look, especially with the way that many fans believe McDavid is already officiated.
