The Toronto Maple Leafs are having a disastrous start to their season. Nearly a quarter of the way into the year, they sit 27th in the league.

What's really wrong in Toronto? Is it a locker-room wide feud with head coach Craig Berube? Or is it the team's goalie injuries? Whatever it is, the team is looking for answers.
Lately, analysts have been calling the Maple Leafs out for their lack of accountability. This roots back to October 18th, when now-injured goalie Anthony Stolarz was ran into by Seattle's Mason Marchment - and nobody stood up for him.
Now, the accountability is lacked for different reasons. On the back of a second losing effort to the Bruins in less than a week, a game in which they lost both Auston Matthews from a hit from Nikita Zadorov, and Anthony Stolarz after the first period, they just seem to have the wrong attitude.

Maple Leafs lacking accountability in media comments

Dylan Nazareth, an analyst at The Leafs Nation has called out exactly what many Leafs fans are thinking - the veteran players on the team just aren't leading well.
Take Max Domi's comments after the 5-3 loss to Boston at TD Garden:
«Despite the outcome, I think every guy in here battled in the third period, and that's all you can really ask,»

Domi took a controversial third period penalty for instigation, standing up for Auston Matthews, but also while trailing.
Former captain John Tavares brought a similar tone:
«I thought we battled pretty hard, maybe just didn't execute on some of our opportunities,».

Maple Leafs playoff odds hit eight-year low

With the Maple Leafs' playoff chances at their lowest level since 2017, nothing is off the table. Brad Treliving may even move on from Craig Berube as head coach.
We will have to wait and see if they can turn their season around.
