LA Kings tied to two original six teams in trade talks for 'speedy scoring winger'
The LA Kings are looking to make a big move after a slow start, and now, recent scouting reports tell us that they've got their eyes on Toronto and Chicago.
The Los Angeles Kings have been a consistent Stanley Cup Playoffs team for the past decade or more, but unfortunately, over the past five seasons, they've struggled to go deep in the post-season, running into the Edmonton Oilers every year.
This season, they're off to a solid 15-12-9 start to the year, and with the team looking to upgrade at certain positions, they've been linked to some major upgrades around the league.
Kings looking into the Chicago Blackhawks and Toronto Maple Leafs
Now, according to a recent report from David Pagnotta, the team are looking for a speedy, scoring winger, with scouts reportedly at the Chicago Blackhawks vs. Toronto Maple Leafs game.
There are several players that fit the bill on both of those Original Six teams, with the Maple Leafs having the likes of Mattias Maccelli that could potentially be expendable following a slow start to his time in Toronto.
It's unclear exactly what the cost is that the Kings are looking to give up to land an upgrade at the wing position, but if they want a cheaper addition, Maccelli could be the perfect play, unless they want to take a bigger swing at a franchise-changing player.
Ultimately, the Kings have needed to make some changes for a number of years following their lack of success in the post-season, and while Maccelli may not quite be the caliber of player they're looking for, he would be an improvement in their middle-six and should be a player to keep a close eye on for GM Ken Holland.
