Shane Wright is reportedly on the trade block in Seattle, but according to Elliotte Friedman, it's going to take a lot to acquire the former top draft pick.

The Seattle Kraken have a solid foundation in place, but as of right now, they've failed to add the high end talent that would make them a genuine Stanley Cup Playoffs contender in the Pacific Division.
One player they were hoping could be that for them is Shane Wright, whom they drafted with the No. 4 overall pick back in the 2022 NHL Draft, but thus far, he's failed to take the step to becoming a consistent producer in the league.
In 2025/26, Wright has 7 goals and 17 points across 49 games, and after posting 44 points in 79 games played a season ago, he's on the right path to becoming that, but apparently, the organization's patience is quickly running out.

Seattle set high price to acquire Wright

Recently, a report came out that stated the team are willing to move on Shane Wright for an obvious upgrade, and given that he's still just 22-years of age, this had other teams around the NHL incredibly excited.
Now, Elliotte Friedman has revealed some potentially bad news for rival teams, as he has reported the price that Seattle are looking to get those teams to pay, revealing what it would cost to acquire the talented young star.
The price is going to be high, very high. - Friedman
According to Friedman, Wright's value around the league is still very high, speculating that the team are looking for a similar young talent that could play a top-six in return or a valuable package made up of several significant assets.
Ultimately, if the Kraken aren't going to wait until Wright develops, he is going to be worth this price for other teams, because in a significant role, the belief is that he can still be a big time star in the league.
