Marc-Edouard Vlasic was released by the San Jose Sharks earlier this off-season, and now he's ripped them despite playing over 1,300 games with the organization.
This summer has been a very quiet one around the National Hockey League, so quiet that most fans may not have even noticed that the San Jose Sharks released long-time defenseman Marc-Edouard Vlasic.
That comes after the 38-year old has spent the last 18 seasons with the team, appearing in 1,323 games in that span, with the veteran posting 84 goals and 379 points across those games.
Bought Out After 1323 Games in San Jose, Marc-Edouard Vlasic Does Not Look at the Organization Favourably
However, things couldn't have ended worse between these two parties, with Vlasic clearly not happy about the way things played out towards the end of his career with San Jose.
In an interview with
TVA Sports, Vlasic ripped into the Sharks organization, and while he didn't provide details, it's not a very good look for a team when a 19-year veteran calls you out for mistreatment.
"I'm glad it's over. I'm not going to go into details, because it's not good for me or for them. It wasn't my decision, I've been lied to all year. Going elsewhere will do me good."
It's unclear exactly what happened between these parties, but given that Vlasic likely expected to retire as a member of the Sharks, this is a scathing review of a team that is building a very talented young core.
For now though, we'll wait and see what the future holds for Vlasic, and given that he's played over 1,300 games for the team, many expected him to retire with them too, but now, that is all up in the air.
