The Pittsburgh Penguins have confirmed a male fan is in critical condition after falling from the upper level during last night's game at PPG Paints Arena against the St. Louis Blues.

A stunning development has overshadowed the game at PPG Paints Arena last night between the Pittsburgh Penguins and the St. Louis Blues.
The Penguins confirmed that a male fan somehow fell from the upper levels of the arena into the lower bowl concourse and is in critical condition after being taken to a local hospital.
The Pittsburgh Penguins can confirm that an adult male fell from the upper concourse to the lower bowl at PPG Paints Arena earlier this evening. The individual was immediately attended to by Pittsburgh EMS as well as PPG Paints Arena personnel and has since been transported to a local hospital.

Although there is no further information at this time, the Penguins and OVG Management Group are closely monitoring the situation. Our concerns remain with the individual and his family at this time.

Sidney Crosby Kept the Focus on the Injured Fan

Even though Sidney Crosby became just the 9th player in NHL history to reach 1,700 career points as part of their 6-3 win over the Blues, he instead chose to acknowledge the injured fan.
It doesn't feel right to be talking about points when you hear something like that. Obviously, our thoughts and prayers are with that person and their family and hopefully they're okay.

The Penguins continued their impressive start to the year under new head coach Dan Muse and are now 7-2-1 through the opening 10 games.

Do NHL arenas need to put better barriers in the upper levels to prevent things like this?
