Kris Letang underwent a surprise surgery in the past few days, and now more details have emerged on the situation involving the Penguins veteran star.
On Wednesday, some concerning news broke about Pittsburgh Penguins veteran Kris Letang, as it was revealed that he underwent heart surgery, with many fearing for the worst about his NHL future.
However, it was clarified that there was no major concern and things went successfully, with the Penguins quoting a recovery time of 4-6 weeks, meaning we'll likely see him in the lineup for game one next season.
Now, Head Coach Mike Sullivan has confirmed that this wasn't an emergency situation, but rather one that they were looking to deal with for quite some time, and given the bumps and bruises he's sustained, now was simply the best time to get it done to give him the most recovery time possible.

After that, Sullivan confirmed that Letang was pleased to get it done, and on Wednesday, days after the surgery, he was down at practice in very good spirits.
"I think he's pleased that he ultimately made the decision to do it, and move by it."
This is further confirmation that it wasn't an emergency or anything that threatened Letang's well being, and with the veteran defenseman being in good spirits, he'll be good. to go when the 2025/26 season officially begins.
