However, it appears that both parties are looking to get a deal done before then, with Penguins reporter Mark Madden revealing a deal could be made on his 37th birthday.

That birthday is significant, as the numbers 8/7 mean so much to him, with his jersey number, his birthday, and the cap hit on his latest contract all coming in at that number, so it made sense that they could announce it today.

That birthday has arrived, but unfortunately for Penguins fans, no extension, just a birthday post for their fearless captain who has done nothing but disappoint their fans.
