People felt that Jarry had so much promise after he seized the Penguins' starting goalie job once Matt Murray left town.
However, questions about his ability as a reliable NHL starter began to set in last summer when general manager Kyle Dubas inked him to a five-year, $26.875 million pact.
Report reveals front office was not happy with Jarry's contract
A recent report revealed by Elliotte Friedman has shockingly stated that several people in the Penguins' front office were not happy at all when Dubas signed Jarry to that monstrous contract.
EF heard Jarry will report the AHL and also says some personnel within the org weren't a fan of that contract being signed.
The tumble his performance is taking is somewhat similar to what happened to Jack Campbell, who got sent to the AHL for a conditioning stint after the rough start.
He did perk up a bit since returning, but the .893 save percentage in 18 games still counts as subpar.
In waiving Jarry, the Penguins are acknowledging one of the first real mistakes of the Dubas era, and Jarry's contract, along with the Erik Karlsson trade, casts long shadows over the team's future.
