Devils' second-overall pick rips coach Sheldon Keefe apart and talks trade request
It's getting hot in Jersey, as their former second-overall pick is not too happy with his playing situation and ripped into coach Sheldon Keefe.
The 2022 second-overall pick of the New Jersey Devils spoke to the media about his frustrations with how his career is shaping up in the New Jersey Devils organization.
Simon Nemec went so far as to say that he may ask for a trade if things continue this way, as he has been unhappy about his designation to the Utica Comets of the AHL this season.
«It's a business, butright now I can't remember any No. 2 draft pick that went to the farm for a third year.»
«It's hard to say, it's still too early to request a trade. If this situation continues, it will have to be addressed, but for now, this is how it stands. I believe I've proven multiple times that I belong in the NHL.»
- Simon Nemec
Nemec is basically telling his coach Sheldon Keefe to play him or he would rather be dealt to a different team who is actually going to play him.
Nemec was very vocal about the situation and continued to talk about a bunch of different aspects of the situation.
«I've gone through the toughest period of my career. It's over now, and I'm playing my hockey again.»
- Simon Nemec
Nemec has only played in nine games this year for the Devils, not having scored a single goal and only registering one assist. He played in 60 games for the Devils last season, where he scored three goals and 16 assists for a total of 19 points.
Fans of the team will be keeping a close watch on how this situation develops over the remainder of the season.
