With the trade deadline looming, many teams are already acquiring top players available via trade. For example the Vancouver Canucks and Winnipeg Jets who went to snag the number one and number two players on the NHL Trade Bait list Sean Monahan and Elias Lindholm. The Pittsburgh Penguins have the opportunity to put Jake Guentzel on the trade market and he would automatically be number one on every teams trade bait list. An NHL insider has linked Guentzel with a contending Western Canadian team.
The Oilers want to strike a deal at the deadline, it's been made clear, in fact they may be playing the waiting game during the awaiting situation between Guentzel and the Penguins organization. Dubas has made it clear that he intends to sign Jake Guentzel, but it was reported he has already rejected two offers thrown at him. If they cant resolve a deal in the coming weeks, his name will be on the trade market at a premium price.
Guentzel on the Oilers would make a ton of sense, adding prolific goal scoring touch to their top 6 and would be a great partner for the captain, number 97 of the Oilers.
