Trevor Zegras is having a fantastic start to the season in Philadelphia, and now he's received major praise from Head Coach Rick. Tocchet.
The Philadelphia Flyers are off to a solid start in 2025/26, and with the offense humming through six games, it appears as though the off-season changes for the organization have paid off in a big way.
One of the major stories of this early season has been young star Trevor Zegras, who the team acquired in a trade with the Anaheim Ducks, with the team giving him major praise in recent times, especially for his
work on the power play.
Zegras Given Major Praise by Rick Tocchet
One of the major criticisms of Zegras early in his NHL career has been his seeming lack of desire or commitment, but in recent comments, Tocchet makes it clear that Zegras knows he's got more to his game, and he's pushing to get it.
He's a smart kid. But what I like about him is that he knows there's more. Like, he texted me last night, (and said), 'I want to watch some video with you.' He wants it, you can tell. Because he feels there's plays out there that he can make even more.
In six games played this season, Zegras has yet to light the lamp, but with five assists, he's getting it done in different ways, and if the goal scoring comes, he could get back to the level we became accustomed too early in his Ducks career.
Ultimately, we've seen Zegras be one of the most exciting players in the entire NHL, but he's struggled to get to that level consistently in recent times, but with the move to Philly reinvigorating his career, he's ready to take it back to that level.
