The NHL season is off to a hot start thus far, but on Wednesday, we saw some surprise moves with three players officially placed on waivers.

After two weeks of frantic action around the NHL, teams are starting to get their bearings for the new season ahead, and while it spells potential for others, some teams have perhaps accepted their fate as struggling teams.
Whatever the case, that means that there will be plenty of movement throughout the coming months, with potential trades likely to come in over that time as teams look to get up for Stanley Cup runs.

Three Players Officially Placed on Waivers

The other way to land potential pieces for your team is through waivers, and on Wednesday, we saw three intriguing players all placed on waivers, according to top NHL Insider Elliotte Friedman.
Those three players are goaltender Pheonix Copley with the Los Angeles Kings, Marc Gatcomb of the New York Islanders and Andrew Agozzino of the Utah Mammoth.
None were likely to ever make the full-time roster for their teams in 2025/26, and as a result, all three are now likely headed to the American Hockey League, unless someone puts a claim in.
This season, we've already seen Copley claimed by the Tampa Bay Lightning, and now, we could be in for another surprise move with two other players on waivers alongside him.
Ultimately, none of the three are potential franchise changers, but with teams out there needing depth at every level for the season ahead, keep a close eye on these three in the next 24 hours for a potential claim.
