There is increasing drama surrounding 2nd year Philadelphia Flyers forward Matvei Michkov, who is allegedly out of shape to start their new season.

Philadelphia Flyers forward Matvei Michkov, who was in the running to be named the Calder Trophy as the NHL's best rookie last year, is already calling some controversy in his 2nd year.
Per a report from Ryan Whitney and Paul Bissonnette of Spittin' Chiclets, Michkov reportedly showed up out of shape.
I've got little birdies everywhere, and I'm hearing that he didn't come in in great shape. -Ryan Whitney

He's out of shape. He's out of shape... Not from Tocch (Rick Tocchet), but I heard he's out of shape. - Paul Bissonnette
In his 1st year in the NHL, Michkov had 63 points (26G, 37A) while playing in all 82 games for the Flyers, who missed the playoffs and fired head coach coach John Tortorella near the end of last season as a result.
The Flyers are now coached by Rick Tocchet, and even though it's only been 2 games, Michkov has no points and reports that he's not in the proper playing shape aren't ideal.

Matvei Michkov Often Clashed With Former Flyers Head Coach John Tortorella

Michkov was often a target for the hard-nosed and no-nonsense former Flyers coach, who was let go near the end of last season after it was clear the Flyers would miss the playoffs.
There was even a well documented example of Tortorella barking at Michkov on the bench.
Despite that, Michkov had only good things to say about his relationship with the now-former coach.
