Matt Rempe likely to be sidelined for the rest of the 2024 playoffs
Matt Rempe has made headlines all year for his physical presence but it looks like he may be done for the playoffs as the New York Rangers have players coming back from injury like Blake Wheeler and Filip Chytil.
After playing in 17 regular season games for the New York Rangers, Matt Rempe has gotten into about half of their playoff games playing in seven thus far. When Rempe was out of the lineup, he was typically replaced by Jonny Brodzinski for a better defensive game.
However, two key Rangers forwards, Filip Chytil and Blake Wheeler, are returning from their injuries and are looking to slot into the Rangers' lineup booting Rempe.
Jonny Brodzinski, Matt Rempe and Blake Wheeler are all doing the extras bag skate, which further shows that Filip Chytil should be in the lineup tonight, as he said he would yesterday.
Last game, Filip Chytil was promoted to the first line alongside Mika Zibanejad and Chris Kreider.
NYR lines the past several shifts:
Kreider-Zibanejad-Chytil
Panarin-Trocheck-Lafreniere
Cuylle-Wennberg-Roslovic
Vesey-Goodrow-Kakko
They were this at the start of the game:
Kreider-Zibanejad-Roslovic
Panarin-Trocheck-Lafreniere
Chytil-Wennberg-Kakko
Cuylle-Goodrow-Vesey
It is expected that Chytil will keep his first-line spot for the next game if he is healthy and Blake Wheeler may also make his return after what looked to be a career-ending injury just last February.
