The New York Rangers season was an incredible disappointment, and now star goaltender Igor Shesterkin has revealed just how disappointed the team are.

After winning the Presidents Trophy in 2024 and making their second Eastern Conference Finals in three seasons, the New York Rangers entered the 2024/25 campaign full of hope and optimism, with many penning them in as a Stanley Cup favourite in the Eastern Conference.
However, they've now officially been eliminated from Stanley Cup Playoffs contention, and after some major moves, it's safe to say that it's one of the biggest failures in franchise history.
In a tough season that could ultimately cost both Peter Laviolette and potentially Chris Drury their jobs, there were very few shining lights, with one being goaltender Igor Shesterkin, who posted a .903 save percentage and a 2.91 GAA through 60 games with very little help in front of him.
Now, when the superstar goalie was asked about how disappointing this season was for the team on a scale of 1-10, he kept his answer short and simple, with the team being one of the biggest let downs in recent NHL history.
10 out of 10.
This should come as no surprise given what a competitor he has been, and since taking over the role, this team has become a perennial contender, and with a group that has a great blend of youth and experience, hopes were high for the former Vezina Trophy winner.
Ultimately though, whether it was coaching, the deployment/development of their young stars or the disappointing campaigns from veterans like Chris Kreider and Mika Zibanejad, the Rangers just couldn't string any momentum together this season, and after such a disappointment, big changes could be coming in the summer.
