Expensive Rangers defenseman reportedly on the verge of requesting trade

Defenseman Vladislav Gavrikov, who signed with the New York Rangers as a UFA last summer, may have already had a change of heart and want a new situation instead of the upcoming rebuild.
One of the major free agent defenseman that was up for grabs during the summer was Vladislav Gavrikov of the Los Angeles Kings.
Even though there were reportedly multiple teams interested in him, he moved to the east coast and signed with the New York Rangers, who had lost K’Andre Miller to the divisional foe Carolina Hurricanes.
But this year has been a disaster for the Rangers, who are in last place in the East. And per a report from ex-Rangers forward and current analyst Mike Rupp, Gavrikov may already be having a chance of heart and look to move on after just one year in a New York sweater.

So far this year, he has 21 points (8G, 13A) in 57 games.
Vladislav Gavrikov Signed As A UFA Over The Summer In New York
Gavrikov was taken with the 159th overall pick by the Columbus Blue Jackets in the 2015 NHL Entry Draft.
He played in Columbus until 2023 when he was traded with Joonas Korpisalo to the Kings for goaltender Jonathan Quick and two draft picks.
In 492 career NHL games, Gavrikov has 156 points (38G, 118A).
