Anders Lee has been a long-time Islander, but after recent comments from The Athletic, there's a chance he's open to a move this season.

The New York Islanders got much younger this off-season on the back of a fantastic draft class, and with young GM Mathieu Darche in charge, they've clearly picked a direction moving forward.
That direction may not help them be too competitive now, but in the long run, it's likely the best way forward for New York, and as a result, it may mean they part ways with some veterans.

Anders Lee on the move?

In the latest from Pierre LeBrun and The Athletic, it has been revealed that captain Anders Lee is open to a move, with all options currently on the table.
"If the Islanders aren't in a playoff spot...perhaps Lee would be open to a trade"; "All options are on the table. And neither side seems particularly stressed by it"
Reportedly, neither side is stressed out about what's happening, meaning they're both open to him staying or going, and with the East set to be brutal this year, there's a chance that they do struggle early.
That doesn't mean that the team are pushing hard to move him, but if they're struggling to stay competitive in the very tough Eastern Conference, it would make sense for them to get something back for the 35-year old veteran.
Last season, Lee tallied 29 goals and 54 points across 82 games played, making it three straight years of 81 or more games played for the career Islander, and while his value isn't as high as it once was, it makes sense for the team to move on from the veteran and get something in return while they can.
