After finishing as one of the worst teams in the NHL, Nashville Predators head coach Andrew Brunette commented on his future.
The Nashville Predators were one of the most disappointing clubs in the NHL this year, finishing near the bottom of the Western Conference despite being viewed as legitimate Stanley Cup contenders.
The Predators began the year losing their 1st 5 games, and could never catch up.
During their end-of-year media availability, head coach Andrew Brunette indicated that until he heard otherwise from management, he was planning on continuing his coaching career with the Predators.
I'm here to coach. Until I'm told otherwise, I'm going to continue to work and become a better coach.
I'm an extremely competitive person. We're not what we want to be. It was not from lack of care or work. It just didn't happen. Myself and the staff, we're going to go back to work. Take a breath, analyze, and find out what we can do better, where we can be better, what went wrong.
But that doesn't mean that Brunette hasn't considered the possibility that he could be finished in Nashville - but he has no doubts about his ability to snag a new gig if that were to happen.
It's a great challenge and I can't wait to start. And if I'm told (I'm not returning), I feel very confident in my ability to continue that path somewhere else.
After going 47-30-5 in 2023-24, Brunette and the Predators went 30-44-8 this year.
