Barry Trotz comments on a potential Mitch Marner trade
The Toronto Maple Leafs have made it clear that Mitch Marner will be the odd man out this off-season.
The Nashville Predators kicked off their off-season early by trading defenseman Ryan McDonaugh to the Tampa Bay Lightning for a pair of draft picks.
Many have speculated that this trade was to clear cap space in hopes of acquiring a big fish on the trade market. The big fish is Mitch Marner, who has been linked to the Predators over the last few weeks. Today Barry Trotz was asked on if they will pursue the Leafs forward and he said the following:
asked Barry Trotz if he'd be interested in acquiring Mitch Marner, with now some $25 million in cap room.
His response is pretty hilarious and he shrugged it off as «just rumors.»
His response was cold, which is understandable given that GM's and executives are not allowed to mention the names of players and people who are not within the organization, which makes it hard to judge if Trots has interest in him or not.
It's safe to say the Predators will go big game hunting this summer regardless, with names such as Mitch Marner, Martin Necas and Trevor Zegras all making rounds in relation to the Predators.
